Principal’s Welcome

A warm welcome to Te Kura O Frankton School.

I am proud to be the Principal of Frankton School and feel privileged to work with a Board of Trustees and Staff who are fully committed to doing the best they can for our students, whanau and members of our learning community.

We are a Virtues School.  Virtues are the content of our character, elements of the human spirit, special gifts that we all have within us.  The Virtues Project nurtures our students in the skills and qualities they need to be successful in school and in life.  The Virtues Project enables us to foster excellence in all aspects of student learning while creating a culture of caring, respect, responsibility, trust and unity.  We have high expectations for achievement, embracing individuality, encouraging respect and building a sense of belonging and pride in our school.  Cultural diversity is valued and encouraged. We value the multi ethnic community in our school’s bicultural context.

Frankton School’s vision is “Together we will develop a life long responsibility for learning and global citizenship.”  “Ma te mahi tahi ka whakahiato taatou ngaa kawenga moo te whakaakonga ki nga iwi oo te ao”.  Our vision statement is reflected in all aspects of teaching and learning at Frankton School.  When your child begins at our school we build on all the learning he or she has brought from home.

We believe in a holistic approach to education, which develops the child physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.  We recognise each person’s own unique potential.  As educators our focus is ‘learning’ and includes learning to know, learning to do, learning to be, and learning to get along with others.

At Frankton School we are committed to ensuring that all students are provided with the best opportunities for learning.  We have both single cell and collaborative teaching spaces along with a whanau class.

Frankton School is a well-resourced school, providing students with the opportunity to use a range of tools to support their learning,  i.e. ipads, computers, interactive whiteboards, apple tv, digital cameras etc.  The Arts and Physical Education is another aspect of learning that we value.  There are opportunities for your child to join Kapa Haka, Indian Dance, Pasifika dance and sports such as softball, gymnastics, netball, basketball, hockey, touch and others.

We are an Enviroschool and this encourages our students to further develop a respect for all living things on earth. (Papatuanuku)  We create opportunities within our school environment for students to become aware of the need to recycle, reuse, reduce and to care for our planet.  We take great pride in caring for our school environment and encourage students to show respect and responsibility towards it at all times.

Whanau engagement is important to us. We believe that the partnership between home and school is vital to the success of your child and by working together your child will have the support required to succeed.  School communicates regularly with home through our fortnightly newsletter, school website, www.franktonschool.ac.nz and our school Facebook page.  “Frankton School.”
